The Power of Storytelling

Picture of Riz Rollins at University of Washington standing in front of the cherry blossom trees.

We believe in the power of a single image
paired with a handwritten memory to honor
lives, legacies, and the places that shape
them, connecting personal memory to
broader cultural history.

“The Weirdo project is awesome!

There were and are so many people involved in our music and arts communities—awesome weirdos and wild, brilliant human beings working in the shadows, working hard in the background, as well as those center stage and in the spotlight. Everyone contributing how they can.

I love that the Weirdos team is collecting and sharing stories from people across all parts of our communities, reminding us of the powerful, colorful, and creative artistic and musical threads of Seattle and Pacific Northwest history.

The Weirdo team is working hard to share stories of where we come from and introduce folks to everyone who helped make things happen in our vibrant music communities.

Thank you. Cheers to all the weirdos!” - Cristien Storm
